About the Artist

Living and working from my cottage studio along a winding river in rural Ontario, Canada, I'm fortunate to want for nothing when it comes to inspiration. Abandoned homesteads, old barns, and relics from the past adorn the landscape. Creatures great and small journey through the yards and gardens surrounding my home. And a rich cultural heritage exists being in such close proximity to the Saint Marys River.

Working in pen and ink has always fulfilled my penchant for detail and fine point application. Besides the technical aspect, black and white is so compelling of an addiction, I have only to see an object in all its achromatic glory, and I cannot live without it. Pen and ink, with its bold, pure black and white palette, seems to be a part of my inner psyche.

To avoid a heated debate, I will refrain from saying that Norwegian Elkhounds are the best dog breed, but I do have to remark how well they fit the black and white theme! Meet Spring, Line and Stipple's Mascot and an artist's best friend. No nature-seeking expedition is too much, and no 'napping by the hearth while art is in production' time is too long!

A strong belief that art should uplift and satisfy our inherent desire for beauty infuses every piece of Line and Stipple's work. I hope that pen and ink will bring a sense of elegance and sophistication to the lives of everyone who can't resist the timeless allure of black and white.
